Hi, guys! I'm the roland hd-1 v drums owner for about 2 years now. I'm interested in extend the kit for 1 or 2 cymbal pads with different sounds than the preset ones. Is that possible to achieve? How to do it?
I have my doubts to be honest.
The HD-1 was a low fuss set-up, there's not much you can edit, or alter.
Changing the cymbal pads will not change the sounds.
If you are looking to expand, a different module & kit might be the route to go.
If you just want to access different sounds, MIDI it up to a VST software program (BFD and the like).
You could add one of the new SPD30 Octapads to your existing setup. This would allow you to use additional triggers such as additional cymbal pads, and comes with a plethora of additional sounds. It's not available yet but will be shortly. in the meantime, the SPD-S samples, allowing you to trigger any sound. Again it can handle additional triggers and could be added to your existing setup.
Alternatively, look at returning to your dealer for an uprade in the whole kit.
Thank you for some good suggestions guys. The best way would be probably to change the current kit for the next in level, so td4k. Sampler pads on their own are between 400 and 500 quid, then td4k is around 800 to 850. If I successfully sell hd-1 I will pay for the new kit about 300 on the top. THX.
