Been using my GS-10 for about a year now (found one on Ebay and grabbed it)... it's really a great ME unit - I use it as my Computer Interface - both on my Mac G5 system and my Windows 7 Laptop - does anyone know if future drivers for it would be released? I would love 64-bit drivers for Win 7 - Currently I have 2 Win 7's - Partition 1 is Win 7 Ultimate 64 and Partition 2 is Win 7 Ultimate 32-bit - I use Sonar Producer 8.5 on both (64 bit on the 64-bit side and 32-bit on the other) but currently can only record my guitar stuff on the 32-bit partition then I drag the guitar parts over to the 64-bit side for tweaking, etc.... It's old I know but in my opinion a CADILLAC! I own other ME Pedals including a Korg Toneworks, Zoom, etc., but the GS-10 is sweet as can be.

Hi Strangedogs,

It may be old, but is sure is powerful. It really is the forerunner to the GT10/GTPro audio interfaces etc, and many manufacturers are now copying the one box solution and GUI which was absolutely right from the start.

I'm not sure about the drivers, but I will ask for you. It may be possible to ammend a driver for GT8/10 to work with it.

Thanks Bud - all my ravings about it in all the Forums I belong to have actually driven the price up on the used models here in the states... It's just amazing - old but amazing!

It never ceases to amaze me the price that older items start going for once they are discontinued. Roland have always had a philosophy of innovating in their products. They will often come up with a concept, and make a product to test the market. Often it takes someone with a bit of creativity to realise the potential and put it to use before everyone else gets it and jumps on the bandwagon.

There are lots of examples, but the GS10 was, to my knowledge, the first dedicated guitar fx system which also was an audio interface. There are now a plethora of other companies who have takien this idea, and ran with it, not least ourselves (Roland/Boss), Line 6 etc etc.

If you are making great tones with it then well done to you. You are obviously a pioneer. I remember trying to sell these in the shops. Some people 'got it' but many others didn't and just could not see who it was aimed at. However, we could see from the reaction that we were going the right way. You can see why this system effectively was incorporated in future products like GT10.

In my opinion it was also great as a live tool, plugged via a PA system for front of house etc. To me it is the guitarists Sonic Cell. It was more advanced than the equivalent floor fx processor of the time (GT6) as it offered 2 channels, or was it 3? I cannot quite remember now. Keep going with it, and feel free to post your work on youtube or similar website, then post a link here to your GS10 inspired masterpiece!

Yup, I just checked this out again and I was right in my thinking. It does have 3 channels!

Yep - I installed them into my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 laptop and man oh man - they work GREAT! Using Sonar Producer 8.5 64-bit and the GS-10 comes through with flying colors. I discovered a tip to using AMP SIM's (Guitar Rig, Amplitube, etc.) with the GS-10... I own a lot of them and using them with the GS-10 I never got a really great sound (too much extrateraneous noise, etc) simply press TUNER on the unit (which effectively bypasses all the onboard stuff - use that as a base into the Sim - adjust the input and output volumes up in the Sim and it sounds fantastic! Works with all of them - VST's too.
