Keyboard midi out - Roland midi in
Roland midi out - Casio Midi in (switch on the soft thru of the mc50. Note that while recording it will not transmit the notes you play on the keyboard through to the sound module, so when recording follow the procedure below*)
Casio audio outs - Fostex audio ins
Casio midi thru - fostex midi in (if you want to syncronise it)
* procedure for recording to MC50
Keyboard midi out - Casio midi in
Casio midi thru - Roland midi in
connect audio outs or headphone out of casio to speakers/headphones as appropriate to preview what is going on.

yes you eased a lot of stress there thankyou
btw
(1) if i want to record the Roland sequencer's edited e.g. basslines so on on my casio vf160ex then which one should i make the master and which one the slave?
is this necessary?
i have never used slave/master function and i understand it is a synchronization of metronomes from the 2 systems so i guesse that would be useful?.
(2) The casio contains VOICES ie instruments in each BANK. On the Roland i was recording bass on sequencer track 1 and then violin on track 2 etc and i don't know which button i pushed on the Roland but every track on the 8 tracks of the Roland are now the same VOICE so the last voice you choose on the Casio becomes ALL of the recorded voices on the Roland. Do u know what happened?
cheers
