I know this isn't good! I've just spent over £400 on a GI-20 and a GK-3 pickup and I can't get to work with them as I'm running Windows 7! - come on Roland! give us the cream!

As has been mentioned on a previous post, Windows 7 drivers are being developed for all current Roland products. These will start to roll out from this month. Please keep an eye on the Roland UK website for new drivers appearing.

We are endeavouring to launch drivers as quickly as possible, but considering windows 7 has just become available (Oct 22nd 2009) we are only now being able to test drivers with the final release OS. Please bear with us whilst these are developed. Not many manufacturers have any drivers out yet, whereas Roland has already won awards from Microsoft for its deveolpment program for windows 7.

Vista 64 drivers usually work well on Windows 7-64, when initially installing the driver, select Vista compatability mode when running the setup package.

Dear guys from Roland !

You said that you developed drivers few months ago and all what you need is to test this driver on final version of Windows 7!
Do you lie about all your products the same way as you lie to us owners of gi 20 !
Maybe your products are not the best solution for buying, because they dont have a good backup and service !
I will not defently recommend any of your products!

Hi Everyone,

I'm afraid there is nothing to do here but be patient. I have checked again with the product manager at Roland UK who is responsible for this product. He has been told they are under development, but cannot get a release date from Japan. In his words, it could be next week, it could be three months. I am sorry to be unable to bring you better news at the moment.

Regards

I'm sorry but this post is just out of order.

Speaking as a software developer myself, I know that porting software to a new operating system - even if it's a new version of Windows - can be time-consuming and complicated. Driver software is especially complex and Roland's reputation would not be enhanced if they were to release half-finished software to end users.

Yes, waiting for software to be released is frustrating but I'm confident Roland will deliver on this. Personally, I'm waiting for the GI-20 driver myself and I'll delay upgrading to Windows 7 until it's available.

I've always found Roland's after-sales support to be first class. Bear in mind that the GI-20 is now discontinued and Roland have no obligation to release any new software for it. Immature name-calling and complaining impress no one, shut up and wait for the software to be released.

Here is a post few months ago from guys in Roland. I did not wait to install windows 7,because of this post. If they said that drivers are not available or that they can not make this drivers I will be still waiting and work on xp.
If they said that they will not develop drivers for gi 20 I will buy another product. That is not for "shut up" , thats market my friend. In my job my client are very important to me,and I can not say to them shut up - they will decide to go in another studio and I will lost job and money.
