hi, i am new to v-drums, i live in a flat and havent had my proper kit out for years, frustration has finally broken me and i have decided to invest. I also want to future proof my investment, i am looking at HD1 to get myself going, but i want to make sure i could upgrade it if neccassary. For example would it be possible to plug it in/out of a mixer? does it have more than one analog in/out?
is this a good kit for a v-drum beginner even though i have been drumming for 20 years.
thanks
infact i have just looked through the v-drums website which answered some questions, i guess now i need to know if the v-drums modules can store and play back samples that can be triggered, ie: a bass loop that can be stored in a v-drum module then triggered by the kit without needing an seperate sampler?

Hi,

i live in a flat

I can thoroughly reccomend one of these. My upsatirs neighbour has one, and apparently plays it all the time. I say apparently, because I had to ask him if he was playing it as I never hear it.

would it be possible to plug it in/out of a mixer?

Yes - you need a cable, probably 1 x male stereo mini jack - 2 x male jack

does it have more than one analog in/out?

Yes it does. It has 2 stereo outs, and 1 stereo input. Both stereo outs share the same signal though. It is not possible to 'remix' the other out.

It is suitable for anyone who wants to play drums quietly, or through amplification. So yes is the answer to your question, but you may get more (as you would expect) from the higher models of the V-Drums series.

The HD1 cannot do this on it's own, but can when midied to an external sampler such as the Boss SP404 for Roland SPD-S.

Good Luck!

thanks, that is a great help, but with regards to been able to trigger a sample from the module without having to get an external sampler, will one of the higher range kits like the TD9 or TD12?

Sorry, I'm afraid not. The TD9 can play back a wav file from a USB memory key though, so you could record a sequence on a Hard disk recorder or DAW software, then play it back through the module 'brain'. No Roland V-Drum module features the ability to sample on its own. Hence the SPD-S.

Cheers
