Hi, I've just got a XV-5050 module. My edited patches save correctly, but System settings such as the LCD Contrast value forget themselves when powered off.

Is that a feature, or have I set something incorrectly?

Thanks grin

I'm not familar with the module but if it's anything like a couple of Roland bits and pieces I have(and most other similar equipment), it sounds like the internal battery is dying or dead.

They're a flat silver lithium battery (like the ones on pc motherboards). The part number for them is usually CR2032. They're only a couple of quid in chemists or car shops (like Halfords) and should be pretty simple to change. If you keep it plugged in when changing it, you shouldn't lose the other settings - just don't go electricuting yourself or frying the main board in it! (You'd want to be grounded with an antistatic strap or similar)

Check the manual and see if it mentions the battery anywhere - you'll probably find it on the first few pages.

Hope that helps
Stephen.

Good thought, but I've found the answer. System settings need manually saving - they don't just retain the values when you turn off! Easy really once you find the right page of the manual.

Cheers!

Hey all, I know this isn't too related, but I've managed to use current Roland 64bit drivers to create a working and fully compatible 64bit driver for the Xv5050 if like me it was the only thing keeping your system on 32bit.
