Hang on - this may be it!
Go to this link:

Link to 2009 guidance pdf

It's another instruction guide but Step 4 is far clearer - the root folder is NOT the Roland folder, it's the 'folder' that contains the Roland folder...
The three files should be pasted into this one, so that all four (the three update files AND the Roland folder) are visible in the same window.

Alright here's the deal, I did everything and still no joy
I deleted the original update files and downloaded from a different location (Roland Europe and not Boss Japan) I copied the files in one at a time (drag and drop)

Hang on just read your update, back in a mo.

It worked !!!!
You are a God amongst men
I tried the link you sent but it did not work, but no matter as the new copy and paste method did.
Seriously, I appreciate your help

By the way I got my cards (4) from memory bits online not sure how much I paid (about £7 each)
Make is Integral 1Gb (Green with blue writing)
They work fine, it just has to be the old (slow) cards
But they are fast going out of circulation, hence the reason I bought 4 of them

Thanks again

Get in! That was really bugging me. Sorry about the bum steer.

I'll get that 2009 guidance sheet (my original, less helpful version is from 2008) and paste a working link, just in case anyone else encounters the same problem.

Now record - record like the wind!

UPDATE - the full (zipped) update file from Roland UK contains the helpful up-to-date guidance pdf:

Dear All,

I too just bought a BR 600 which came with a 128 cap and an outdated list (2005) of CFs. I too as some of you have done has bought UNSUPPORTED CFs.

Is Integral 1 gb (green with blue writing) the CF to get ?

I just received it in the post and it functions! So a solution is the Integral 1 gb (green with blue writing) CF.

Thanx. sam ash

Hello
From their website (memorybits.co.uk) it appears that they deliver just about everywhere: Europe, Australasia, New Zealand, USA etc. and they have dedicated sites for France, Germany and Spain.

Check this address: http://www.memorybits.co.uk/faqs

I took my unit to an acoustic session a few weeks ago, and on the way I bought a new card (I had no idea about the support issues) When I got there and tried the card, I got the "Unsupported Card" message.

I packed my stuff back in my bag and got on with the session, and somewhere along the way (most likely through the consumption of alcohol) I lost the original card.

I just bought the one from memorybits.co.uk and I'm still getting unsupported card message. So now I have no original card to do the firmware upgrade and 2 cards that don't work.

I don't suppose anyone has any idea how I can deal with this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers...

John

Hello John
I think you've guessed that you need a compatible card in the machine in order to perform the update that will allow you to use your new card.
If you cannot find/borrow one, I'll gladly send you my original 128MB card.

From tomorrow, I'm away from home until the first week of August - I'll check in when I return or you can PM me (never used PM before but I'm sure I can get my head around it). I live in Liverpool, so if you are local, could be even easier.

Well I purchased the Delkin card (green and blue, 1gb) from the suggested link, and my Boss BR-600 still will not recognize the card. When I go to 'USB' under 'Utilities' that is as far as I get before I get the 'Unsupported Card' message, so I'm not able to transfer the firmware update files. I verified I'm on version 1.00 and need to get to version 1.11 to use the Delkin card.

Hello again
First, my original Boss card is now in the post and on its way to you.

Now, I'm a bit worried about the 1gig Delkin card that you are trying to get to work as other members who have posted on this topic have not found them compatible. If you find that to be the case, I can recommend the Integral cards from:

http://www.memorybits.co.uk/shop/compact-flash/integral-1gb-compact-flash-memory-card-incf1g/4234

Very cheap and they deliver just about anywhere.

Happy Cristmas!
