Hi Guys,

Having checked with Japan, I can confirm they are aware of this issue, but at present there is no update available. However, Roland UK have now sourced compact Flash cards directly from Japan. These are available from our spares dept. The part number is 51004107, and they are priced at £26.09 including VAT. This product is available to continue support for the BR600 and other products which use this type of media. We intend to continue importing these ourselves as long as there is demand for this product. Whilst this may not be the perfect solution for some, it is currently the only way we can offer continued support for this media type. We hope this will give users confidence that the media will be available for some time to come. These cards have been tested and approved by Roland Japan. Should anyone wish to purchase one, you can do so by calling the spares dept at Roland UK HQ on 01792702701.

Regards

Hi everyone,

In response to John Sweeney's quote above, the same card is available to buy on our Roland online store here.

Thanks,

Ollie

Having already bought an unsuitable flash card and seeing the trouble people are having, i downloaded what i thought to be an uptodate list of ok cards from HERE the other day- sent off for a Delkin (S2)1gb and surprise surprise----- it DOESN'T WORK.
THIS IS REALLY FRUSTRATING--- £40 DOWN THE DRAIN. STILL DO NOT HAVE A TRUSTWORTHY LIST.

roland-- you need to sort this out QUICKLY! This is marring an otherwise excellent device. yrs Mike Shreeve.

Hi Mike,

Sorry to here your having problems getting a working card for your unit. Not sure where you downloaded the list from as the only link from here is to our FTP server where the file was removed a while ago. If you can guide us to where this list is that would be a great help.

The Delkin website also say that their cards don't work with the Boss Recorders. Where did you order your card from?

We do sell working cards for our recorders via our Roland online store.

Thanks

Ollie

Didnt check the date on the link/list, but will use yr roland link next time. The shop i ordered the Delkin from are exchanging it for a 'JAmedia' which i'm told is Roland worthy. Cheers for advice Ollie.

I've just purchased 2 1gb integral cards from memeorybits as per the advice of many previous thread entries. Memorybits has another 10% offer on at the moment (because of the world cup not less?!) so the cards are £7.50 delivered, not bad. I note that there are many BR600 happy user reviews against the product on the memorybits site ..

http://www.memorybits.co.uk/shop/compact-flash/integral-1gb-compact-flash-memory-card-incf1g/4234

so here's hoping they still work!

... but I also do wonder if the 2GB verions of exactly the same (slow) card would work as someone previously suggested that there was no actual reason why cards >1gb shouldn't work and I'm also not sure why it wouldn't. Any ideas why it wouldn't?

I'm tempted to buy one at http://www.lowpricememory.co.uk/integral-2gb-compact-flash-card-reader-c-28-p-107 ... to try but I haven't pushed the tempting 'buy' button as yet, I'll wait until I've proved the 1gb ones first grin

Hi HarleyBoy,

The Boss BR-600 operating system will only support cards up to the size of 1GB, please don't purchase a 2GB card as it will not work with the unit. As posted previously in this thread, we do sell a 1GB card which will work on our online shop here.

Thanks,
Ollie

I purchased a 1gb memory card from this site (advertised above, and pasted below)

http://www.memorybits.co.uk/shop/compact-flash/integral-1gb-compact-flash-memory-card-incf1g/4234

Got the card (with world cup discount) and Boss br600 flashed up 'Unsupported card' Gutted! this is by far the stupidest machine that has major compatability issues. Firsty, cards that used to be supported are not now, and secondly, the world is moving on from 1gb flash cards (some are 32gb now) and so the demand is less and less. technology moves on too fast, soon, they will be obsolete. I wish i knew all of this prior to buying the boss br600. It is a wondeful bit of kit and is great for guitarist, but Roland have seriously misjudged the market! Very very dissaponted with intergral memory card too, im really baffled as to how the person above got it too work.

I hope you have resolve this by now, capoates.
I have four of these cards and they all work fine on my BR600 - I don't wish to sound rude but did you initialise and format the card before trying to use it? If you did, the card may simply be faulty.
PS - are you using the the 1.11 firmware? I believe that this version fixed some card compatibility issues.

Ok I have just gone through the process of trying to update my BR600
And as much as I try (believe me I have followed the update notes to the letter numerous times -"readme_BR600_Update_e111.pdf")
Everything goes well until, Number 6: (Hold down STOP and REC together and turn the unit on)
When I do this the system just boots up as normal, it reads the card, loads the songs ect but no " Update PROGRAM? Ver 1.01 to 1.11

Does anyone have any ideas?
Additional Info: CPU = 1.01 EXT = 1.00 WAVE = 1.00
OS Mac Snow Leopard

Hello again - UPDATE: please see this guide:
http://www.thedonaldsongroup.com/intra/uploads/BR-600Ver1.11README.pdf

This will, no doubt sound like teaching you to suck eggs but we have to start somewhere. Without knowing precisely what you have done, I can only be really general.

I originally encountered problems with this myself - my fault. From reading many related entries on other forums, the following parts of the process have caused problems:

a) Corrupt download of the new firmware - download another copy
b) Not initialising the card first (I didn't, as the card was already working, but it did cause my first attempt to fail)
c) Not placing files in the root directory, NOT the folder named 'Roland' (no quotation marks) but the 'folder' that contains the Roland folder - updated/corrected after original post
d) Not performing Step 4 correctly (I have no idea how to un-mount on a Mac)

Any of this sound possible at your end?

Sorry - forgot this bit:
are you copying the files as 3 separate files, not just placing the update folder into the root folder? You need to place each individual file in the folder.

Good luck

Ok firstly solid response and thank you.
Option A: Is possible and I will re download from boss
Option B: Yep did that with a new card
Option C: Did this (Roland folder) and it placed the files in there respective areas
Option D: I scratched my head at this to, but then after a bit of reading in the Boss manual it turns out that you simply drag the Boss drive icon from the desktop to the trash bin.

The bit you forgot:
This is a definite contender as I dragged all 3 files together (not the main folder though) to the Roland root folder and as mentioned above they then appeared in the relevant sub folders.

Anyway i will give the above option another shot (plus as many variations on that theme as possible tonight or tomorrow and will post the results. FINGERS CROSSED!
