I don't know about compact flash card converters but anything to bring some adaptability to the BR600 would be great news. I thought it was time I updated on my quest- Gareth from Roland sent me a 1gb card in the end free of charge to get me up and running. I too am finding that the stores like Asda that did once stock a card that some have found compatible - the Sandisk one, are no longer stocking 1gb cards and are selling 4gb at less than half the price of a 1gb card. It would be a great step forward to find a way of expanding the memory capability. Without this I fear this great piece of recording equipment will very quickly become obsolete. Any comment from Roland on this?

yeah no kidding.. i found a 1g flash card on amazon.ca made by a company called verbatim. its only 13.99 but i don't even know if it will work with the br-600. if it does i would buy 2 or three of them and probably have more than enough memory. this is where i found it http://www.amazon.ca/Verbatim-CompactFlash-Memory-Card-47010/dp/B00009965V/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1230512723&sr=8-5

I spoke to Roland UK last Monday, they gave me this http://www.delkin.com/store/uk/home.php?cat=67
and said to only buy the 1gig card. Someone at Nevada music said they take up to 2 Gig cards, but I haven't tried it.
I asked for a free 1 Gig card as well, mentioning the topic on this forum, and was told they aren't giving any free ones away any more.

Cheers!

Sorry that the freebies have dried up now. Hopefully that will mean that 1gb cards will be provided when the equipment is first bought as it really has been an uphill climb. Thanks for the info re the Verbatim flash card at a reasonable price. Please post a report on here when you, 'Chuckalucks' or anyone else has tried it. Let's face it none of us would be desperate for free 1gig cards from Roland if we could easily buy them at that sort of price.3-4 are needed to store ongoing projects satisfactorily.

I have bought a card from here

http://www.jessops.com/online.store/categories/Memory Cards/Compact Flash Cards/products/Jessops/1GB Compactflash Card-27887/Show.html

and it works fine. It's their own brand but is in fact manufactured by Sandisk, and, it works!!

I can vouch for snorkel's card from Jessops. And their after-sales support is really good too.

Our current standard compact flash cards will not work with the BR600/900. Because these cards are manufactured for use mainly in digital cameras, the technology in the cards have changed to work faster in the new ranges of cameras. Unfortunatley this has caused them to stop working in the BR600/900.

We have now had made a special card for use in recording / musical equipment. It has been tested by Roland Boss and is fully compatible with the BR600/900. This is available from stock. They are £29.99 and can be purchased directly from us on Telephone 01922-636250.

re the above notice from DELKIN EUROPE

no one can stop -or wants to stop progress -but Im sure Delkin were well aware of the 1gb card used in the Boss 600/900 and listed in the boss manuals-
so to completly cut off manufacturing (full stop -no more) sounds a little iffy-
surely they have some stocks of the old card suitable still available ?????
and a jump in price for the new card from £8 for the old one to £30 is a huge jump and may not be in their best interests -it will now more than ever force users to try all other makes of card
living as I do in Ireland, now means I have to pay more in Euro and P&P;if I want the new Delkin card

Dear Fenderbender,

can i please clarify a few of your points:-

1- we have never stopped producing a 1Gb card, but as i have said in the earlier posting they have changed with technology changes in card manufacture. hence the reason you are all finding it hard trying to purchase cards which work in the machines, either from us or other makes printed in the instruction book.

2 - we are not trying to rip anybody off or force people to try other cards. we have had to purchase a special chipset which is now old technology and this is costing us more to manufacture. if we could supply these cheaper it would be in our interest to do so.

3 - all these limitations are due to the workings of the Roland Boss machines not our or other manufacturers cards.

so back to yourselves Roland ---

whats the story on cards ?????
I bought the Br600 7/8 months ago -messed around with cards (may have been looking into a bush -I might add)
manage to get cards at a reasonable price -(Delkin)

Is there not a download update available to make a certain number of cards compatiable with the br600/900
