I use 64 bit Vista. Like most recording musicians I use this OS because it offers the chance to have more memory available for VST plugins etc.... for use with DAW applications like Cubase. A 64 bit driver makes perfect sense for any current computer compatible music related audio hardware, and when a major manufacturer like Roland and some of its competitors decide not to support 64 bit computer connectivity of their products it seems very short sighted - particularly when all things considered, 64 bit computing is undeniably the way forward. You would think that most manufacturers with the capability to do so would be eager to be at the forefront of technology rather than living in the past. Line 6 support 64 bit drivers for most of their products including direct competitor to the GT-10 the X3 Live - and it works. Line 6 have had 64 bit drivers available for about nine months. I have Line 6 products inc the X3 Live as well as a Boss GT-10. The X3 Live sees way more action than my GT-10 because I can connect it to my 64 bit Vista system in order to update firmware, patches etc... as well as using it as an audio interface - and the X£ Live is supported with a decent computer based editor which is something Roland also doesn't provide for the GT-10.
There is a significant demand already for 64 bit support and with more and more computers being supplied with 64 bit versions of Vista (soon to be Windows 7), that is something that's only going to increase.
I don't know if this is true, but my friend from some guitar forum contacted Roland phone-support about that matter, and he was informed that there will be vista 64x drivers released in 2009. And not only Boss GT-10, but also other Roland products. Can someone confirm this? Gareth? Mr. Sweeney?

Yup, that's a shame. However, there's an unofficial one circulating in the internet, it's called "GT-10 Fx FloorBoard" and it's compatible even with Win7 beta - google it if you need

Hi all,
I am the author of the GT-10FxFloorBoard 'unofficial' patch editor, and requests for win x64 drivers have been a fairly common occurance, i would say i have had about 80 requests to date.
I did post an 'unofficial' GT-10 midi only driver in a GT-10 yahoo group, it could help those who are 'stuck', it works with Vista64 and Windows-7 64.
If you do use it, remember this is not associated or endorsed by Roland, thus it is used 'at your own risk'. Having said that, i can vouch it does work well.
Thanks guys, it is good to hear from you. We are taking note.
I certainly hope so....
The marketing campaign neglected to mention anywhere that the issue with 64 bit Vista exists.
I did not find out until after I had purchased the unit and tried to find the driver.
I feel cheated!
I would expect a mention of that at least on the box in HUGE PRINT.
Also, the sales force must be trained to make customers aware of that fact, not just grab the money and shove the box in our faces.

Hi,gumtown!
I just downloaded the GT-10 Fx Floorboard for Windows.
The GT-10 USB is set to advanced, but the Vista 64 still does not see the Gt-10.
Apparently the USB driver cannot be found either...
Where exactly is that USB driver found?

Great to hear the x64 drivers are on their way. Thanks for the update.
That said, I will (with all respect to the representatives helping out in this thread) add my voice to the choir and express my concern, for future reference.
From a naive customer perspective, I think it's fair to assume a high-end product such as the Boss GT-10 would support all mainstream operating systems. As previously noted, a musician/producer shopping for a PC (let's ignore the Mac advantage for the moment) is likelier to pick a 64-bit OS. Perhaps I'm deluding myself into believing my problem is that of the masses, as all human beings are prone to do, but it really does feel like Roland isn't catering to the future.
I was lucky enough to purchase my GT-10 yesterday, and with luck, won't have to wait long. Had I bought it a year ago, however, I would have reluctantly traded it for a POD X3. It's a vital omission that would have affected my purchasing decision had I been aware of it.
Anyway, just getting it out there. Here's hoping for a speedy driver release.
I saw that the driver hda been released this morning as well. I was waiting for someone to confirm that it works, and now that that's been done, I'm off to purchase my GT-10.
Thanks to both Roland and the user who posted the 64-bit 'success' story - I look forward to replacing my GT-6 and many years of fun with the GT-10.
