After trying to decipher the 'instructions' in the manual to get the USB driver I cannot either find the driver or any indication on how to get it and install it. Can anybody help ?

If you have windows XP. If you have vista, change 2219 to 2218. To install it double click setup and proceed with instructions. DON'T connect GT-10 to the computer before installing. Installer will tell you when to do it.
