I'm currently using a GR33 for synth tones and a M13 for my electric guitar signal, I'm considering moving from the M13 to the new HD500 which I think would allow me to run the Gr33's signal into a separate chain and have access to the HD's M class effects.

This in itself I haven't got a problem with hock-up and set-up wise but are there any options to sync patch changes between the two units using midi?

I've had a look at both manuals and it's all a bit over my head.

You can do it easily with the GT-10, i use a GR-20 with a GT-10B and feed the GR-20 to the S/R return into chain channel B so i can apply effects i am not using for channel A.
The GT-10 still has way more control & midi options over the HD's.

Yes I did a search before asking and found some of your previous posts, in the HD manual 'Using POD HD500 as a MIDI Controller Device' (pgB•3) says:

• CC/Program/Bank # (Knob 3): Selects further options, depending on the Message
Type selected (Knob 2).
• CC #: When the Message Type is “CC” or “CC Toggle,” this allows the choice
of any MIDI CC number from 000 to 127. If editing EXP1 or EXP2 controls,
this knob sets the Minimum CC value for the pedal. (Also see the Knob 4 Value
description.)
• Program #: When the Message Type is “Program Change,” this allows the choice
of a fixed Program Value of 000 to 127.
• Bank #: When the Message Type is “Bank Change,” this allows the choice of
fixed Bank Value of 000 to 127.
• Note: When the Message Type is “Note On,” this allows the choice of the specific
musical note value (C0 to G9)

The HD seems geared up to sending midi from footswitch commands within a patch rather than with patch changes.

I did previously use a GT8, perhaps I should consider the GT10 as well?
