hi i am new to this forum and i hope it's as simple as posting a question and waiting for an answer......i connected the 880 to my mbox via a 75-ohm coaxial cabe from the 880's digital out to the mbox's digital in.......i have no control of the volume from the 880 and on the left side of my mixer there is this terrible clipping staticy noise.....the chord is brand new, and the same thing happens when i connect in the same way my yamaha motif.......am i an idiot?......thanks

Not a fault with the DR-880 then, if it's happening with Yamaha Motif.

I think this is s digital sync problem.
You may need to check the settings, and manual of the M-Box.
It may be using an internal digital audio clock source 44.1Khz / 48Khz / 96 Khz.
It may have an option to clock digitally via it's SPDIF input.

that absolutely worked....thank you very much. i had to set the mbox clock to the digital input.... so does that means that the 880 is in control of time of the pro tools sequencer through the digital in of the mbox and doesn't need a midi chord?

thank you again for your help....greg

Hi Greg.
Glad the snap crackle & pop has now gone.

For the 880 to in change of 'time' a MIDI cable may well be required.
Or you could control the 880 from ProTools, again, it may need a MIDI cable.

At the moment, only the audio engine is clocked externally..
