BR 800 Driver

I have found a problem with the software included with my BR 800. There does not seem to be a driver for my Windows version XP X64 Edition. I noticed that there are 64 bit drivers for Vista and Windows 7 and I tried them all with no result, I even tried to see if the XP 64 bit driver was included with the install that was just labelled XP, but none of them worked.

I am confused as to why it has not been supported as other versions of windows 64 bit have been, and the version of Cakewalk supplied said it does support XP X64 edition and isn’t that Roland’s own software?

As some of the BR 800’s functions can not be accessed without a computer (like the drum editor and the track’s file transfer program) shouldn’t all well known operating systems be supported on every version?

Please tell me that there has been some mistake or that a driver will be made? At the moment my BR 800 is useless to me. I really don’t want to be told I have wasted my money.

I would strongly suggest contacting Roland regarding this as soon as possible.

I've looked, and because the BR-800 is fairly new, been unable to find much information, or indeed drivers for it.
What I did find was mostly press release / product information. It does appear that XP, Vista, and Windows 7 are listed as supported, but with no mention of if it's 32, or 64 bit.
I hope there is a 64 bit driver of XP, and that it has been missed off by mistake.
If not, I think you may be within your rights to ask for a refund, as if there is no support for XP 64 bit, it should have been specified.

A sticky situation, and one Roland need to address.

Thank you for replying, I will contact Roland and see what they suggest.

The CD that it is supplied with does have a folder named “X64Drivers” but only has Vista and Windows7 drivers in it. When I tried them a message came up saying, “The operating system you are using is not supported. Please check the supported operating systems.”

I hope it is a mistake because the BR-800 does seem like it would be great with all it’s functions available.

Anyway thanks again.

Just in case anyone is interested, Roland got back to me on the matter. If you are thinking of getting a BR-800, and you have the same computer setup as me, you might want to hold off for a while. Roland said:

“Thank you for your email.

At this moment in time, there is not a BR-800 driver available for Windows XP Professional X64 Edition to download. I have forwarded your query onto the Boss Product Manager. Our Manager will contact the Product Development Team in Roland Japan and find out if the driver will become available.

I will contact you as soon as I have had any reply.”

I have just got Roland’s decision on the driver, I’ll let the e-mail speak for it’s self.

Thank you for your email. Unfortunately there are no plans to create Windows XP 64 bit drivers for the BR800.

Kind regards.

I’m not happy :((
