Apologies if this topic has already been discussed but, I'm considering purchasing a BR-900CD HD recorder second-hand, it is I believe software version 1. If I buy this, can I update the firmware/software to the latest version 2 without a) doing any damage or b) breaking any rules etc? If it can be done, how would I go about it?
Not sure if it has been discussed before, not that it matters.
a) Hopefully not if you follow the instructions listed in the read me pdf file in the zip file for system update listed here:
http://www.roland.co.uk/products/productdetails.aspx?p=718&tab=Downloads
There are other useful downloads here too, including a pdf manual for version 2.
There are a few software programs too, but they are Mac os X, and Windows XP / Vista 32bit only. I wouldn't hold your breath for a Windows 7 or 64 bit version, I will be happily proved wrong on this.
b) not against rules as far as I know, in fact it would appear Roland recommend it.
Thanks for that SEA, I was only worried in case I might do some harm by trying, I think I will go ahead with buying the BR-900, seems like just what I'm looking for and all the reviews seem (mostly) favourable.
