Hey Guys! I just thought for anyone out there looking for a 64bit driver for the XV5050, Roland have made it clear they arn't making one, but I got fed up today of not having one as it was the only device holding my system back from being fully 64bit compatible and decided to investigate piggybacking another Roland Driver.

The good news is I managed to do it successfully! The driver I based it on is the Edirol SD-80 64bit driver and the Fantom-v 64 bit driver.

By comparing the above two drivers, I discovered all but 2 files were the same (but with different model numbers), so I decided to open up those two files and edit them to the XV5050's specifications, and managed to create a fully tested and working 64bit driver for this device!

I must make this clear for legal reasons. Although i programmed 2 files in this driver, the bulk of the files are property of Roland and that must not be forgotten. I hope the moderators can see past this self programmed driver in order to allow people to benefit from it who would have otherwise lost the use of this hardware.

pm me for more details!

Creative hacking (hackers - useful adaptation of code, cracking - misuse of code).

Hat's off to you, I'm sure any XV-5050 owners will be grateful.
BTW - is this a Vista 64 bit driver, or a Windows 7 64 bit driver?

Well the original XP driver works on Vista 32bit and Seven 32bit (even though it aparently doesn't according to roland!)

This driver is from a Seven 64bit version by Roland, but I noticed the Vista version is identical, and the coding doesn't seem to refer to vista or Seven at all, just 64.

Eitherway, I know its Seven 64bit compatible at least

Hello from a newbie. smile

Thanks for "creating" this driver, Alan.
I've just acquired a 2nd-hand XV-5050 and would really appreciate if you could send it to me (pm sent). wink

A bit off-topic, what editor should I use?

Thanks in advance.

If you pm me your email I'll send it over to you. I'll also send you the patchlist for Cubase if you want it.

I've never been one to use the Editor as I've always patched straight into Cubase using the file I'll send, but heres the Roland link to the XV-5050 Editor
