Hi. I own two functional BR8s and just bought another one but when I switch it on all I get is four red track number lights and the screen just lights up with green LEDS but no Boss boot-up. So far, I've tried using a new 100mb zip disc drive and I downloaded the updated drivers and tried to boot up the BR8 from a disc with this data loaded but the machine only seems to come up with any writing on the screen if I press the stop and play buttons together and hold them down as I power it up and even then it comes up with "wrong disc, error" and "power off". I tried initializing my zip discs in my other working Boss machines and I know I am using the correct Boss BR8 update system programme. Is there any way I can use a zip disc to get the operating system from one of my working BR8s and save it and use this to boot up my partly lighting up machine? I am willing to try anything.
Could someone also tell me whether BR8s will work with compact flash drives. I purchased a 40 pin IDE to CF adaptor and a power adaptor to connect the BR8 4 pin power and the CF adaptor can be set as master with pins. I have got some 512mb CF cards and I wonder if anyone has ever tried using these cheap adaptors with a BR8. What do users advise? Finally, I know about the 250mb update of zip drive but are there any issues about this and is it as simple as swapping the drive and setting master on it, etc? Thank you, and I hope that someone knows how to start up a BR8 by using other functioning BR8s to transfer data etc.
