Hello there

My problem is that I'm trying to record some drum tracks on Garageband using my Roland TD3 drum module, but for some reason my hi hats are not recording on the correct midi voice.
I've checked the midi settings on the module, and the corresponding notes on GB, and both are set at 22 for closed hi hat, and 26 for open hi hat. When I hit the hi hat itself, it triggers a note that is blank on the midi mapping. In fact only when I change the module voice number to 46 (open hi hat bow) does anything start to register in GB.
Any ideas folks?

Hi,

The only thing which springs to mind is that you will have a different note number produced by each trigger on the TD3. Therefore, to bow of the pad will have a different number (46) to the edge of the pad(26.) Make sure when you hit the pad, you hit it in the zone associated with the midi note number you wish to trigger.

26 is not the number for open hi-hat by default. The Hi-Hat control pedal plays note 46 when depressed, but doesn't create a new note number when it is released.

Basically everything you need happens on note number 46. There will be another control change message sent out to indicate hi-hat open or closed. You will need to find this control message and set-up garage band to recognise it.

I'll try to find a manual shortly... sorry its suddenly a bit busy here. If I find the instruction, I will relay it to you.
