Hi I am very new to all this so please assume no knowledge on my part.

I am trying to record a drum track on Mixcraft 5 using my Roland TD3/kw drums using a midi cable I just bought. (Audio recording works fine).

The cable appears to function OK. It's one of these .............. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260604156434&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I am using Windows XP and Device Manager sees it as a USB Audio device, and as a midi cable, so the driver appears to have loaded OK. When I switch on the module the "IN" light on the cable flashes but I get no signal at the computer end.

I have tried switching on the various elements in different sequences and still I don't seem able to record. My understanding is that Mixcraft will record on any channel so I'm a bit lost as to what's gone wrong.

I have loaded Midi-ox on my pooter - it says there is no midi device connected so it isn't seeing the TD3 by the looks of things.

I have reset the module to factory setting and that made no difference.

I would be grateful for any help. Thanks.

I have one of these 'happy shopper' MIDI interfaces.. they are, shall we say it nicely, "not all that reliable". (I would use stronger language normally).
Think it was £20 from (Cr)aplin (Steady now)

I picked up a midiman 2 X 2 USB interface, works perfectly. It cost me another £20, but the big difference was this one actually worked.

Strongly suggest binning the current interface, and looking for a 'branded' model.
