Had a couple of questions. Can you record with the gt-10? If so, with what recording programs? I had propellerhead's record software in mind, will that work?

Sort of....

You will be able to record audio generated by the GT-10, as if you had plugged the outputs into an audio input of the computer. It can also record any MIDI data the GT-10 produces, but that's about it.

It can not be used as;
a) A guitar-to-MIDI converter
b) An audio interface

If you want to record other sources other than guitar, such as vocals, then a dedicated audio interface will be the way to go.
Some of these also include a simple MIDI interface, which might be useful if you have a keyboard with MIDI.

If you already have a USB controller keyboard, hen all well and good, as this should also work fine.

(Post # 660 - as in Boss BR-660.. nice little drum machine)

The GT-10 CAN be used as an Audio interface or Soundcard, i use the USB to my laptop to play backing tracks into the GT-10 while i play along. I also use the GT-10 USB interface for recording, i am using "Sonar", but there are a lot of free multitrack recorders available such as Audacity or Reaper.
You can actually record audio and midi pedal events/program changes at the same time onto seperate tracks.
The GT-10 can also be used as a "re-amping" plug-in, be setting the GT-10 input select (in SYSTEM menu) from 'guitar 1' to 'USB' and have a track from the computer play through the GT-10 and record onto another track the effectd sound back from the GT-10.

The USB/DGT effect block in the GT-10 determines the tap-out point where the recorded sound is extracted. At the end of the chain you record all effects, at the front of the chain, you record only dry guitar.
