Had mine for 12 years now from new. The LCD is dodgy (80% legible if that), several channel mute buttons stuck and 2 sliders sticking.

I need a decent repairer in UK (Preferrably south England). Did contact Roland support who gave me a local firm whothey use (kept it for 6 months and I think they didnt really want to do the job got it back as issued). They really helped with schematics and online contacts, tutorials but Im not an electronics genius - type of person who could burn a house down with a solder iron! wink lol

Anyway if anyone can help my sentiments and passion for this kit cant bear me to see it binned or wrecked by my own hands.

Ive seen the youtube video guide and the american supplier - but I would know how to crimp and cut pcbs.

Look forward to any help

Many thanks

(I am sure I am not the only person with this issue)

Sorry to hear you've a sick 505.
The YouTube video.. is it the one from XstressfxX?
It seems reasonable straight forward. Roland units do tend to be service friendly.
He's not hacking the PCB, he's cutting away some of the original metal work so he can fit the replacement LCD. It must be 'a n other' LCD, as opposed to a Roland replacement.

The buttons, and faders should be reasonably easy to replace, the big PCB would also have to come out to do it. Roland should have the buttons and faders, and you'll find they will be reasonably priced.
It might be worth asking if they have a replacement LCD, a direct replacement wouldn't be cheap, but you wouldn't have to hack away any metal.

If it was mine, I would be willing to 'have ago', but I do have some electronic knowledge.
I too like to hang on to the stuff I've bought. (electronics magpie?)
The only other suggestion, ebroke, sorry ebay. See if one pops up at the right price, then you old one becomes spares.
Anything can be fixed - at a price.

Surprised your 'local firm' couldn't do the job, perhaps they couldn't source the replacement LCD. I think that is the major stumbling block. I wonder where Mr. XstressfxX gets his from.
