I have the PCR 800 working fine via USB, but I have no output from the 5 Pin MIDI Out.
I want that to send to an external sound module.
Any ideas?
Thanks

does the midi port work if the USB cable is unplugged.
Some devices can only work with either the USB midi or 5 pin midi port, but not both.

Depends..

Are you connecting the controller keyboard direct to the module (not using the computer / no USB connection)?

Does your PCR 800 have an external PSU, or are you using USB to power it?

Is the MIDI thru switch turned on or off on the back of the PCR 800?
Try with it off, and try with it on.

Is the MIDI cable you are using ok, is it in fact MIDI cable?
Some DIN cables reverse the connections, old tape recorders used them before RCA plugs became the norm.

Are the MIDI channels the same?
What module are you trying to link with?

Thanks for the response guys.
I have it working now.
I was unaware I had to always use/route through a software application such as logic.
Additionally I can plug directly into the hardware sound module and it is receiving data from the PCR-800.
I have no idea what I did to make it work. I wish I did.
With all the fiddling around, trial and error stuff associated with manuals, I don't really know what I ticked to get it to go.
I'll come back and search you guys out if I have more troubles.
Thanks again!

It's highly likely you need to power it via USB or an external PSU. You need to set the power switch accordingly. I have done this many times with the PCR range and never had a problem.
