Hi first of all hight to all u folks its my forst post and i need some help please.Iam about to buy a godan freeway sa guitar and was wondering there is a roland gr50 for sale at a low price can i connect my guitar to this and then stright to my marshall avt amp,is there anything else i need to get the sounds, regards dave
The GR-20 and the VG-99 are the current Roland offerings, both units work under different systems, the GR-20 is a basic guitar synth, and the VG-99 also does COSM modelling and effects (2 x GT10's).
You just missed a GR-50 on ebay that had no bids with a start price of £50 ... I was tempted myself but I'm using a GI-20 already and that's been the mainstay of my MIDI guitar setup for a long time now.
Just checked, there's a GR-09 on ebay starting at £49, that's a more recent unit than the GR-50 and has inbuilt sounds, may be worth a look?
Make sure which ever unit you do buy has the correct pin configuration on it. The current setup is the 13 pin circular type, many very old guitar synths had the big fat square connector and are not compatilble with more recent connector types. The GR-33 is said to have been with the most configurable options, and the GR-20 synth and GI-20 midi converter have the fastest & more reliable tracking of the pitch-to-midi units.
