XV-5050 64 Bit Driver creation

Hey Guys! I just thought for anyone out there looking for a 64bit driver for the XV5050, Roland have made it clear they arn't making one, but I got fed up today of not having one as it was the only device holding my system back from being fully 64bit compatible and decided to investigate piggybacking another Roland Driver.

The good news is I managed to do it successfully! The driver I based it on is the Edirol SD-80 64bit driver and the Fantom-v 64 bit driver.

By comparing the above two drivers, I discovered all but 2 files were the same (but with different model numbers), so I decided to open up those two files and edit them to the XV5050's specifications, and managed to create a fully tested and working 64bit driver for this device!

I must make this clear for legal reasons. Although i programmed 2 files in this driver, the bulk of the files are property of Roland and that must not be forgotten. I hope the moderators can see past this self programmed driver in order to allow people to benefit from it who would have otherwise lost the use of this hardware.

pm me for more details!

JUNO GI

I recently bought a JUNO GI and am amazed there are no lists in the manual or anywhere else for all the sounds/programs/drums sounds/kits/effects etc?? I have tried to find them in the Roland site but cannot find them anywhere? I have also written to Customer support and await a reply but wondered if anyone had any ideas where I might be able to obtain such lists? I have had many Roland/Boss products in the past and there have always been lists of all those things.Indeed I have also owned other makes, keyboards, recorders, drum machines etc and they always supply lists too..??
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me..

Setting up GAIA with Logic 9

HI,

apologies for this request as no doubt there is a very obvious answer but can someone please write me a quick guide to setting up the Gaia with Logic 9?

I'm using logic in 64 bit mode alongside an Audiophile sound card and a midi controller keyboard and currently only have the Gaia connected to my quad tower mac via USB> SHould I be connecting the midi outs on the Gaia to the Midi Ins on my Soundcard as well? From my understanding of the manual this is not the case and that one USB connection to my Mac will suffice. Have i got that wrong?

I currently have midi signals going into my computer as I can see midi notes showing up in my Transport window when i play the Gaia but I'm unable to get any sound out of the Gaia coming through Logic.

Should I be using the 'External INstrument' plug in a Software Instrument channel ? Or creating an External Midi channel?

Again..sorry for the obvious question but your help is much appreciated.

XV-2020 MIDI problem

Hi Members!

I've owned an XV-2020 since 2 weeks, and it worked like a charm till last days. The problem is that MIDI in/out stopped to play sound completely - Patch, Rhythm and Performace mode too. Here are the details:
- MIDI-led is responding well
- USB-connected XV Editor shows a 'keyboard-animation' while I play on the physical MIDI keyboard
- the unit plays sound via USB well (but I hate it because of the ground-loop noise)
- the unit is in Patch mode and listens on Ch 1
- the keyboard sends on Ch 1
- MIDI lead was changed - no effect
- I did a factory reset - no effect

No idea what is the problem, but I wont use USB while recording the sound because high noise. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
XV-5080 sound problems

Hi All,

I recently acquired an old used XV-5080 which initially appeared to be in great condition. However, it has developed a fault which pretty much renders the device useless.

There is a crackling noise appeared on a large number of patches. The noise only happens when notes are being played, but this is not your classic polyphony issue as the noise happens even if a single note on a regular, built-in patch is being played. Some patches are affected worse than others, and a small number are not affected at all.

The noise itself sounds a bit like a noisy pot being wiggled on an amplifier, but a bit more digital than that (if that makes sense). I'm pretty sure that the noise is being introduced BEFORE the effects, as I can hear reverb on the noise. Also, the noise appears equally on all outputs - jacks, S/PDIF, and even the headphone output on the front panel.

Do you think the unit can be repaired? Any other pointers you can give me? All help appreciated - I was just getting in to learning this classic piece of kit and now its ruined!!

Thanks in advance,

Soniccell VST editor for Cubase 6?

Roland really sucks [censored] for not updating the VSTi for this piece of hardware. Now it's 2 versions behind.

Why make it compatible with Windows 64 bit, then cripple it by not making it compatible with the most current version of cubase.

This is not going to steer me towards Sonar but will steer me away from Roland.

buyers beware! Roland has led us on and deserves an epic fail

Wireless system.

Hello fellow Roland users,

Lately I have purchased a Roland AX-Synth Black Sparkle. I have read the manual and it mentions a wireless system to use with a Roland Cube-amplifier. A search in Google only shows up with MIDI for wireless communication between devices while the manual clearly shows two 1/4" connectors plugged into the R L/MONO.

What is a recommended wireless system that communicates this way?

Thanks in advance.
