I recently purchased this excellent keyboard to use as a top board and I am dead pleased with it. My only snag is that I cannot for the life of me get the song player to play MIDI files correctly.

The song player seems to have no trouble at all with drum tracks but all the others are missing. Any ideas?

        Hello everyone.

I'm looking to do a live performance and am wondering if my MC-307 is up to task. I'm thinking it is, but rather than waste a lot of time with it, I'm thinking I'm better off asking the experts here and looking to other options in the event that the MC-307 is unable to pull it off. Allow me to explain:

I'm going to be doing a show with a live band. We're covering about 10 songs from the 80s that involved a fair amount of synth prominence.

I'll just list one of the songs for now:

Rio by Duran Duran.

It has an arpeggiated c minor chord with simultaneous rhythmic chording in another voice -from what I can hear anyway.
I would like to be able to either sequence these two parts and program them into a song on the MC-307

OR

program them both as separate patterns that can be played simultaneously by holding down two different keys.

Is this possible? The reason why I'm asking is that if it's sequenced we're stuck with essentially playing to a click track or sequenced part. The rest of the band can't be off on their parts. If it's two patterns that are held down by playing a couple of keys, it's a little more "organic".

Well, another question:

How did Nick Rhodes do it live? I take it that he used two synths probably.

If the MC-307 isn't able to do this, then it looks like I have to invest in other equipment. A Roland Juno Di or Gi, Jupiter ? Or something that will get the job done? Again, we're talking 80s stuff here. A good modern synth aimed at 80s sounds. But if the MC-307 can pull it off, I rather do this.

I hope I've made myself clear???

Sorry to ramble,

thanks for reading!

Cheers!

This late afternoon I'm still using it, all things working smoothly. Then just now when i went back home, plug my usb for my projects and HELLO WHITE SCREEN.

Here's what I did

*Turned off and unplug my usb, resume loading..... still white screen...
*Checked everything,
- still have sounds, sounds seems ok, (not distorted or anything)
- can still navigate through patches
- trigger the sample pads
- removed the dimm memory also (same thing happened)
- reinstall the 1.50 update (without knowing if it really work/because i dont see anything on my screen, i just waited for 2 hours just to be sure)

All seems working ok but the only thing is the screen.

Does anyone know if its possible to set and save the midi channel on the xv 5050 so when you switch it on it's automatically set to the channel you have chosen?
Thanks!

        Hi
I'm new here.
I have a GR33 where the LCD is going. I have the brightness turned all the way up. Occasionally it is bright
and normal, but at other times it flickers and just goes dark.
Is this because power in some places is low, or is my LCD really going? Or is my unit just going south?
--Can it be repaired?

2nd Question (4th question really if you wanted to be technical)
I did buy a used GR 33 and I'm hoping to Dump my patches on to it. I'm assuming I just do a sys dump
with Midi out from the Old to the new GR 33 midi in correct? Hopefully my old GR33 LCD will stay lit long enough to do this.

I Also own the GR20 and GR 55, but for some reason I just prefer the GR33 because of my familiarity to it
and the sounds....

Thank you for your reply

Hello!
As a one-time rhythm guitarist then drummer (+ vocals) in various cover bands, I decided it was time for me to study music 'properly'. Got my grade 5 music theory. About 5 years ago I suffered a breakdown and still suffer from depression and mood dysfunction.

BUT now music is helping me get it back together.

I bought a Juno G a couple of years ago and taught myself to play (sort of).

Here's my problem........

I now want to record multiple tracks of songs I've written. I'm having the devil's own problems getting my kit to work together. Can anyone help, please?

PC runs Windows XP, music software is Cubase Essential 5
linked to an Alesis iO2 interface via USB

MIDI in/out from interface to Juno G (haven't dared to update with the sampling software yet)

Audio out from interface to a pair of M-Audio reference speakers.

I still can't work out how to configure Cubase 5 or Juno G to communicate and produce sound. My aim is to 'step enter' music into Cubase, then use that to control the sounds from within Juno G, coupled with various VSTs and patches from Halion One.

Thanks for any advice to help get me up and running.

Greetings everyone, I'm a synth player, currently living in Hawaii. A friend of mine left the islands and left me with a XP-30. She said that there were a few dead keys and didn't know, so left me with it. G-1 and higher up G#4 and A4 don't play at all, no matter how hard I press the key. I took the keyboard apart, cleaned the contact on the board as well as the contacts on the rubber strip, and still no luck.

I contacted a guy out here who was sure that the contact boards need to be replaced, and that this will fix the problems. Does anyone here have any experience with these keyboards, and any thoughts on that advice? Thanks much all.
