Hi. I searched the forum for U20 and U220, and haven't found any information to help me. Maybe somebody here could help.

I have a U220 connected to a Yamaha KX76 which I have used for years and years. I love the setup. Now I want to use some sounds other than the ones that are programmed in. I bought a midisport 2x4, saved my sysex file (which was never altereed from 1989), and tried the software's keyboard controller on the U220.

The keyboard controler on the software has different sounds for the same selections selected by my KX76. That is, I select U220/KX76 selection 1 (grand piano) and I get a different sound when I use the software to select patch 1 and the software's keyboard controller. The control channel's the same for both (01 in this case)

Looking into it further, I have discovered my KX76 keyboard sends only on channel 1 and 2 (2 banks of selector switches), which can access only parts 1 and 2 of the U220, as all the other parts use different MIDI channels.

I tried selecting P-01, labelled Grand Piano, with the U220's front panel. I edit Part 1, and turn off the MIDI control volume, exit, then select a different sound from my KX76, and find out that sound's control volume is turned off as well. I go back to the U220 front panel, turn on Part1's volume again, exit, and find that all selections from the KX76 have the volume control enabled again.

I find this confusing.

From the front panel, I cursor over one step to P-02 (eagle) and get a sound when playing a KX76 key. I then return to P-01, and get the Grand Piano again. I then select "2" from the keyboard KX76 patches, but I do not get the same sound as I get when I select P-02 from the U220 front panel. I find this confusing. In my world, 2 is equal to 2.

I clearly do not understand the P-xx selections from the U220 front panel, and how that relates to the selections made from my keyboard. If anyone could help me on my confusion, please reply. I suspect this is a general misunderstanding on my part, and probably applies to all Roland synths.

Thanks!

Help, anyone !!! I've just bought a Sonic Cell and connected it to my E-09 arranger
Sonic 'in' to E-09 'out' and can only hear the keyboard sounds. I connected the Sonic to my spare dummy k/b and no problem. I checked the E-09 manual - no help! both
devices need to be on the same channel, hmm I don't know much about MIDI but maybe it's asetting problem? I've no idea. I have a VS 2400 studio and I've managed to record the Sonic on to it through my dummy k/b.....so what's going on?? Ian

Thanks in advance, Bob

Hi - Does anyone know how easy it is to set up the the Boss VE20 autotune for vocals and adjust the key or pitch? I now you can set the root key of the song (eg A maj) but how does the unit manage to correct vocals when the key changes during the song - do you have to specify all the main keys and then quickly switch the unit to the right setting, or is it a lot simpler than that?
